We tried the buffet for $10 per person. The food was filling, but uninspired. The mac and cheese and potato salad were good. The meat was bland, but there is sauce to put on it. I failed to check in first, so I did not get a free drink with the buffet - be sure to check in on Yelp. We did get an order of mozzarella sticks, which were very good and served hot. If I ever go back, I will order off the menu. The dining room is small and cozy. Tables are small for a family of four, but they can be pushed together. This place seemed to be more for take out.

As a Texan, I love to share good TX BBQ. But for the most part when I fly to Michigan, that means shipping up a brisket. Add $30 in shipping, and you are talking a minimum $80 to share good smoked Texas meat. And I am not that nice. :-) Hogzilla however smokes great Texas style meats. I've spent time with Sonny at his smoker, talked to him about the wood that he uses, and smoking times. He knows his stuff - and could make a living in Texas with his meats. Why I gave it four stars versus five. This is a review from a BBQ connoisseur - I've been to all of the great places in Texas. And the only places that Hogzilla falls down are in my mind both correctable and a problem. 1. Cut the brisket thin and against the grain. I've requested this when I call in an order, and they still either don't do it, or can't do it. They would be laughed out of Texas for either their chunks (which are unacceptable) or the super thick slices they cut. While not personally a fan of electric knives, this might be the cure for their lack of knive skills. 2. Speed. I always stop in so that I may take this to my father, whose stroke makes it a struggle for him to get out of the house. If you walk in and ask for a relatively simple order? 20 minutes. If you call in that same order (and set a pickup time) you still seem to wait 15-20 minutes once you have arrived at Hogzilla. They have got to get faster.

I've been repping this joint back since it was Euro Sub in 2004 when I wrote a review for my high school newspaper. Now it's my favorite place in BC and I always put it on my list to do when I go back to my home town. As long as I've been going here I want to try everything on the menu but I have a hard time not ordering the sandwich's on sour dough bread. The bread is what makes the sandwiches. I had the buffet once and it was great with a good selection but I would recommend the sandwich if it is your first time they have a lot of options. The owner is very nice and loves to interact with customers so make sure to say hello to Sunny.

Tried the Battle Creek location to see if it was real BBQ and was not disappointed. It is not the BBQ joints of San Antonio that i grew accustommed to and love, but it's definitely about the closest i've found! Bothe their brisket and pulled pork are excellent and they follow that BBQ is a way of cooking and not just slathering sauce on something. The cornbread was also delicious- seemed to be a blend of white & yellow meals for it- very good!. I have yet to try the new Kalamazoo location, but if it's anything like this spot, i'm looking forward to it. if you want some true to life BBQ that reminds me very much of what I used to get in Texas, you have to try Hogzilla.

Stopped here based on yelp rating. No crowd on a Thursday afternoon around 4:30. The staff was friendly and the food smelled very good. We ordered a combo BBQ plate to split. The meat was good but not very hot. Seating was a bit uncomfortable in the retro garage style booths. Overall the service was good, the food was ok and the atmosphere was nothing special. I have to say, my experience with the Famous Dave's chain and Detroit's Slows makes me a bit jaded. Hogzilla is just OK. Not bad but not great.

Got the $7.99 lunch buffet. The boneless smoked pork bites are fantastic. Potato salad is great as well. Rib tips, pulled chicken and pulled pork are also good. Corn bread and the beans could be better. All in all though, great all-you-can-eat food for $7.99.

On the way home from our typical trip from the Detroit area to Chicago, we were getting hungry. We have this policy: try local foods. So we did. In Battle Creek, we drove up and down the main strip to find something interesting and atypical. And boy we were surprised. We walked into what looked like a museum. I expected a middle-aged, Jimmy Buffet type with a spit in the middle of the restaurant, hand turning a pig and smoking a cigar. But we couldn't be further from that stereotype. We ignore the people for a minute and get to the food. I got the rib tips. With them came mac and cheese and three different types of sauce. All of which were very very good. Definitely more in the KC style. It was very filling, very delicious and ... unfortunately, it was really empty in there. After a few minutes, we started talking with the owner. He's VERY chatty. And I love that. We heard all about the restaurant, the collection of car signs (down by 2/3rd at least!) and the food. But we couldn't understand where he was from. It matters not, but he's from Canada -- after his family emigrated from India. What a story! DEFINITELY worth leaving the expressway for. We went around 7p on a Sunday so they were just about to close up. Still I have to imagine this place is packed at other times. At least I hope so because I definitely will go back.

Awesome BBQ and really friendly service too. The lunch buffet is the best in BC - value, taste and variety!! And as a bonus, everything that can be sourced locally is - how can you not support a place like this?

On a vacation, checked out this spot and it was sooooo good! Best BBQ I've had in a while

For BBQ foodies: Really good (and spicy) BBQ place which serve local meats. Owner is very social media conscious and is really into customers' needs. Its a must if you're visiting BC or to go just for a weekday night. I've been there once and will go quite often now. I gave it 5 stars because there's no other place like it in BC, it serves local fare, and the owner is welcoming.

I love Hogzilla's menu and food. The mac & cheese is very homey and yummy on a cold day. The BBQ sauce is fabulous. The bread for the sandwiches rustic and tasty. Do not forget to ask for multigrain bread as well as their garlic sauce. I love they have vegetarian options as well as meat. The menu is pretty extensive. The only reason I couldn't give it a 5 star rating is their buffet is never kept hot enough so I prefer to order off the menu instead, and I know what I'm getting. I'm a bit leary of leuk-warm food. Second the corn bread is typically dry and seems like it's always day old not sure why, should be easy to make. Perhaps it's just a bad recipe. I've had two company picnics where Hogzilla's was served and everyone has enjoyed. It's atmosphere is very laid back and easy going. The dining area is fairly small but tables could easily be pushed together for a group of 10-12.

First time I did take out was 7:55 PM on Friday night and I'm glad I did. Previously, I have had the lunch buffet and enjoyed it. I ordered the last 1/2 rack of ribs, pulled pork, smoked turkey, homemade mac and cheese and cole slaw. I asked for the hot BBQ sauce and it did not disappoint. Sonny was a blast to talk too as well. The ribs had the tips left which was an extra juicy surprise additional, the rub was well done and smoke was nicely infused. Pulled Pork was rich in flavor and smoke and VERY moist. The sides were also well done Mac and cheese was made by someone's grandma with love which was evident. The only thing we didn't throughly enjoy was the smoked turkey and that could be because it was 5 minutes before closing. It did have good flavor it was dry. I would try it again just earlier in the day.

Fairly good service table-side not always attentive in replacing trays for the lunch buffet; I had to wait on at least 2 occasions and there werent many tables occupied. I tried everything on the lunch buffet and only had 1 miss, the mac and cheese. The 1 hit that was great were the rib tips. The separation of sauce and their pulled pork and chicken was smart so that customers can control their desired sauce I'll update my review when I try their full menu and not their lunch buffet which albeit was a good deal, I'd like to see another hot side offered perhaps some collard greens

We were driving back from Kalamazoo on a Saturday afternoon when we decided to stop and get some lunch. This place was a pleasant surprise. For $9.99, we got the BBQ buffet -- chicken, pulled pork, rib tips. All smoked to deliciousness in the large smoker plainly visible in the front. The sides were good too. The mac and cheese, coleslaw, and potato salad were made in-house. I had never had spaghetti with beef brisket in it before, but it was delish. And if you check in on Yelp, you get a free soft drink!

We are having a family reunion here in Battle Creek and staying at a hotel. We decided to order carry our from here and I am pleased. The brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken are all very good. I like brisket the best and it didn't disappoint. I liked the chicken better than the pork. The sides were also delicious. Here's how I would rank them: potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, corn bread.

Went for dinner while stopping over on the way to a NASCAR race. My son and I shared a sampler plate filled with pork goodness. Great barbecue and a very friendly atmosphere with good service. I like that they have local and different beers available. What keeps them from 5 stars is the sides. The corn bread was good but the cole slaw and baked beans were very average and sort of mainstream varieties. I would like to see the sides up at the level of the BBQ but if something takes me to Battle Creek again, I will stop by.

It's baseball season which means a trip to Battle Creek and Hogzilla. I enjoyed a mid-afternoon brisket sandwich with potato salad. Other comments below talk about their brisket, which I think is their strength. It was properly sliced (no chunks) with sauce on the side. A great BBQ experience. NOTE: staff told me they will be opening a new BBQ place in Kalamazoo in July.

Stopped in this little BBQ joint today for the Catfish Fry Fridays. Delicious cat fish is lightly breaded with zesty and yummy seasonings and not at all heavy. Delicious. Comes with two sides for $6.99! While I would leave the mac n' cheese off my order next time (a little thin and seasoned, not thick and creamy like I prefer), I would definitely go back for the catfish. The inside is tiny and although not crowded, none of the tables were clean when we got there and our food didn't come out together, but the friendly owner more than makes up for it. They have a patio, buffet, and booze...I bet this place is great in the summer!

Tiny, re-purposed garage, with only about 10 tables, but it is well worth your searching it out. We were lucky and showed up on an evening when they had a BBQ buffet. For $9.95 you get all the pulled pork, pulled chicken, rib tips, spaghetti, corn bread, mac n cheese, beans, cole slaw, and potato salad you can eat (I am sure there was more stuff, but I can't remember). The Mac n cheese was a little bland, but everything else was outstanding. You get the choice of a few of their homemade sauces, and the wait staff (of 1) was warm and friendly. I assume most of their business comes from take out and catering. We just searched the web when we were in the area and were so happy we found Hogzilla.

Heard all the great things about this place but we were very disappointed. BBQ sauce was too sweet, they poured it all over everything. We got the sampler platter, the pulled chicken & pulled pork were just ok. the ribs were tough. The Brisket was the highlight of the food, it was very good but drenched in sauce. The Mac & Cheese had no flavor as the baked beans were way too sweet also.
